open call

This open call is for new ideas and works within the disciplines of visual arts, contemporary music and performance. Socially engaged and public art is of particular interest.

In 2017 and 2018 Cycle Music and Art Festival’s geographic focus is on the West-Nordic countries - Greenland, Iceland and the Faroe Islands - and the relations to Denmark. With thematic focus on identities, nation building and nationalism - inclusion and exclusion - during and after colonial rule and independence struggles.

The 2017 festival fosters creative processes and exchange by inviting artists, scholars, and the general public to engage in dialogue through workshops and communal dinners parallel to the artistic programme of concerts, performances and visual arts.

Chosen projects will be developed and showcased over the period of one year, beginning with a residency at the Cycle Music and Art Festival 2017 in Kópavogur and finishing during the Cycle Music and Art Festival in October 2018. Travel and accommodation expenses related to the residency in 2017 will be covered by the festival.
